Thoughts and Reasonings | Holiday Makeup Fatigue

makeup fatigue

I have a love love relationship with makeup. There’s not much that I dislike about it except maybe high prices, the russian roulette you sometimes play with quality but other than that it’s all love. For the last month and have maybe even two months, ever since Holiday products started being released, which was way back in August, I’ve just been feeling tired.

Companies have been releasing all of these sneak peaks, trying to tantalize you with the promise of an awesome product, then you see the full product and you’re left feeling underwhelmed. Well I’ve been left feeling underwhelmed. The Tarte Toasted palette, Becca’s Apres Ski Collection Face Palette, ABH, Colourpop, the list goes on.

Maybe if products weren’t being released back to back and on top of each other, I would get a chance to breathe and think about the products. Instead I feel like I’m being bombarded with a new launch each week. Thankfully makeup isn’t my job or I’d be feeling super stressed. It’s difficult to keep up with it all.

A lot of these palettes are also limited edition, so there’s that pressure to pick it up quickly lest it sell out and you miss your chance to buy it. I’m certain it’s all apart of their marketing plan, but I don’t like it.

Makeup is something that generally brings me joy, but I’ve found lately that whenever I visit my regular sites that discuss makeup I’m not enthused. I just feel drained. There’s no excitement, no looking forward to a launch date. I’m fatigued with it all. Everyday there’s a new palette orrumours of a new palette.

I will say that there have been a couple palettes that have caught my eye like the Nabla Dreamy palette and the new CiatexChole Morello palette, after that though I’m pretty much done.

How are you feeling with all of the holiday releases?
