The Great Spring Wishlist

The Great Spring Wishlist

There have been a few things that I have been thinking about, instead of making multiple wish lists or buy lists I’ve just complied everything into one big beautiful list.

I’ll start with beauty first because that’s what’s been driving me the last few days.

I’ve got quite a bit of Zoeva products on here. I first heard about this company in early 2014 late 2013, because I was trying to good and save my money I didn’t take advantage of the last sale that I’ve seen them do in the past two years. Anyhow let’s move on, I’ve got some of their eyeshadow palettes which from the reviews I’ve read say that the quality is good, the palettes that were reviewed by Temptalia got a B+. I’ve also got some brushes on here. Since I do already have quite a few brushes I went for the ones that were more unique and not like anything I already have in my collection.

I’ll start with the palettes first.

The Nude Spectrum palette, this one is part of their new Spectrum line that was launched recently. It has 3 eyeshadow palettes (Nude, Warm and Cool), each palette contains 15 eyeshadows some matte and some shimmer. They also have 3 corresponding blush palettes each with 4 blushes.

I liked the colours of the Neutral palette the best and felt that they would fit my skin tone or rather show up well o my skin tone, they do look like they lean a little to the warm side to me. As you can see from the photo, most of the shades are varying shades of brown tones, which is great for an everyday palette- if neutral looks are your thing. I think this would work well for those mornings where I’m rushing and just want to swipe one or two colours on my lid and not think too much of blending and so on.

Next on the list is the Smokey Palette, I don’t do Smokey looks a whole lot, I just liked the shade range of this 10 pan palette. This is another soft neutral palette with a few hints of colour from the green and purple shades, it’s not a must have but I do like the look of it.

Moving on to the Cocoa Blend Palette, some have said that this could be a dupe for the Too Faced Chocolate palette, since I don’t have that palette I’m not worried. I’m starting to see a trend with all of these palettes, they lean very heavily to the warm neutral sides with just a hint of colour. Some of the shades in this palette are duo chrome, and I love duo chromes (I’ll have to show you a few of my favourite shades that Indie brands that I have)

So far it looks like few if any of the shades in the last three palettes are the same, which I’m glad of because I didn’t want to purchase dupes of colours. I couldn’t find a comparison of the different palettes showing if any of the shades overlapped, when I get this I’ll have to make a post about it. Yes these are actually sitting in my cart right now just waiting for me to check out.

The last two palettes are ones that I like but I’m not sure how much use they would actually get. I love the colours and the pigmentation looks on point from swatches I’ve seen but I’m still undecided. Rose Golden and Mixed Metals are the maybe purchases. Some of the colours in Rose Golden do remind me a bit of the Cocoa blend palette, but they are a bit softer and the Mixed Metals palette just looks gorgeous, they are pretty much just lid colours though, you wouldn’t be able to do a complete look with these as there are no matte shades that you can use to blend and add depth. It does add a bit of colour though considering that the other four palettes are varying shades and tones of brown.

Onto the brushes now.

They have a couple different brush sets and brush collections, the most popular being the Rose Golden- of which they now have three volumes or variations. The common feature though is the rose gold Ferrule. Since I don’t want one of the sets I’ve chosen the individual Rose Golden vol. 2 brushes (there the same price as non-rose gold brushes).

I chose 105 the Luxe Highlight brush, which as the name says is for highlighting, this is the smaller sister so allows you more precision when applying your highlight.

109 Face Paint brush, though this sounds like it would be a foundation brush, it’s not it’s for contouring. Yes another contour brush J. This one is similar to the Nars Ita and the Real Techniques metals brush, though from the reviews the Zoeva allows better blending of the contour shade. I don’t have one like this and since it’s cheaper than both the other brushes and apparently works better I think it’s a good purchase.

102 Silk Finisher, This is pretty much a buffing brush, similar to the Real Techniques brush in shape. I haven’t come across many comparisons of the two but they look similar in appearance. With a name like Silk Finisher I want to try it. Plus I really like my Real Techniques buffer brush.

110 Face Shape, looks like the little sister to the 102, I think it would be great for blending out concealer under your eyes or even over blemishes.

140 Petit Buffer, this one just looks interesting to me. You know you have money to waste when you want a brush only because it looks interesting.

I didn’t look at any of the eye brushes because I’m pretty good with what I have right now. Depending on how much I love the above brushes then I may at a later date purchase one the eyeshadow brush sets.

Mac Eyeshadows

After all of the eyeshadow palettes that I have on my list from Zoeva you’d think that I’d be done, nope I’m not. Since MAC has lowered the cost of their eyeshadows to a reasonable $8 for each single instead of $12 per single (which is a reduction of 40%) I’ve compiled a list of the shadows that I’m interested in. Now since I’m unfortunately not made of money I can’t get them all at once, not if I want to get the Zoeva stuff. I’ve got 21 on my definitely want to purchase list and 14 on my maybe not too sure list. Just a warning most of these colours are neutrals, why you may ask? Two reasons, number one is that I have a ton of loose mineral eyeshadows in vibrant shades of green, blue, pink and purple and number two is I feel that I will get more use out of the neutral tones. Though knowing myself I may purchase some of the brighter shades in the future.

I also want to purchase some Mac Fix+, a Paint pot in a Camel Coat and Mac pro long wear concealer  in NC45, I'm NW45 so the NC would give enough brightening with going overboard. I do find the NW45 concealer to be a bit too orange for me.

Let’s take a break from eyeshadow and move onto lips. Liquid lipsticks have blown up over the past year, with pretty much every major brand and some small ones putting out their version of the matte liquid lipstick. I’ve tried a few of the cheaper ones and found them to be very drying and a bit uncomfortable as well as hard to work with.

I want to try some of the Dose of Color liquid lipsticks, there are a few colours that I think would work with my skin tone. Since I’ve been wearing more nude and soft pink shades on my lips lately those were the type of shades that I was looking at. So far I’ve got three shades I would like to try, Desert Suede, Stone and Bare with me.

I want to try some of Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche lipsticks, I saw some swatches and they were so pigmented and smooth with one swipe. Since these are traditional lipsticks the wear time is a lot shorter than what you would get with a liquid lipstick. Sugar Cane looks good as well as Honeycomb, though I may have to use a lip liner to have it complement my skin tone better.

So far there hasn't been any spring fashion that's caught my interest. I would like to purchase a great everyday carry around bag but I'm not certain of the style that I want yet. I do know that I want it to be medium and not too structured, just a little floppy and relaxed.

What's on your spring wish list?
