The Art of Buying Things

I was thinking about not buying things, but then I needed to buy stuff.

We are surrounded by things and are encouraged at every turn to purchase these things.If you like me, like to shop and enjoy spending your money on things that you love and bring you pleasure then I think this little guide will be of some help. I’m by no means a minimalist and have written a post about why it isn’t for me, but I don’t think that anyone enjoys spending their money on stuff that doesn’t work for them.

Taking Care of Your Clothes

Investing in good quality pieces for your wardrobe is something that I always suggest to my siblings. The lure of cheap and fast fashion is strong but when you realize that the sweater you got for a $5 that's 100% acrylic, can’t be worn again after only 2 washes, taking more thought with your clothing choices starts to make more sense.

I never thought of myself has a passionate person, in fact I often felt that I lacked passion. I’ve come to realize though that I express my passion in different ways. I’m not consumed and obsessed with one subject or area of interest, instead I’m obsessed with many. I don’t multi-task though, I focus on one area of interest at a time, but I tell you I give a great deal of my attention to the subject of the moment.

Life’s little pleasures, I think that even though they may seem small and insignificant by themselves, when combined as a whole they are far more impactful than you might think. Even little things when combined form something big. When I think of the things that bring me joy I find they are already deeply entrenched in my day to day life.

Notables of 2016 | Beauty

This was an interesting year in beauty for me. I worked on curating my purchases and focused a bit more on mid to high end products. Makeup wise I've really been into a softer almost minimal look, I have worn some bright and bold eye looks but I tended to gravitate to simple look, brows done, mascara on the tip of my lashes, conceal under my eyes and add a bit of blush and highlight. That was my standard go-to look for the most part.

I’ve read quite a few books this year, which doesn’t come as a surprise to me, reading is one of my favourite things to do when I have free time. I can’t articulate just why I enjoy reading so much, maybe I’m just a nosy person. After all reading does take into you the lives of other people, it tells you their stories and adventures. Their successes and triumphs and also their failures. Even if it’s all just a tall tale.

Notables of 2016 |Life and Style

I find that as I get older I’m taking more time to simply enjoy Life. When I was younger the days just seemed to rush into one another and I didn’t try to experience things. Now that I’m a bit older I love to spend time with my family and treasure those moments, well until my introvert tendencies kick it and I head off to a corner by myself. The memories are there though.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday Haul

So this year I tried not to go hard, I think I succeed in that, but only because the websites were working against me. I had wanted to take advantage of the 60% off Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows, and I did place an order only to have it cancelled. Yeah disappointed doesn’t describe how I was feeling. I tried to call but no luck getting through. I placed an order on Ulta.com, it too went through and then was later cancelled.

Fall 2016 Pantone Colours in Nail Polish

I was surfing through pinterest and came across a colour board for one of the pantone 2016 fall colours and was inspired to try and see if I have those colours in my nail polish stash. It started with the nail polish and then moved to “I wonder if I have those colours are in my closet’ I pulled a few pieces that I felt matched the colours or were close to the colour. For some of the shades like Bodacious and Airy Blue I didn’t have much luck but for other’s like Lush Meadow and Riverside I had a lot of close picks.

Fall Wardrobe | Monochromatic Look

I love the colour deep green for fall, I think it started with my Kate Spade bag, and has spread from there. The colour seems to touch me inside emotional, not sure why but it just resonates with me.

When I first planned this post there were a few items that I knew I would have to purchase as I didn’t have them in a deep enough green like the chunky sweater and scarf. I did however have, multiple nail polishes and eyeshadows on hand because on an unconscious level I’ve just been drawn to this colour.
