This year I’ve been pretty relaxed with my skin care routine. I just don’t have the energy to be too complex with what I’m applying to my face. The majority of the products that made it to my favourites list are aimed at providing maximum moisture and minimal effort on my part. I didn’t plan it that way but that how it turned out.
The star of this list the Algenist Liquid Collagen Serum. As you can see my little sample is completely gone, I fear that I’m going to have to pony up the big bucks and by the full size, though I fervently hope that they make a deluxe size. I can say that I certainly saw marked improvement in the 3 weeks or so that I was able to stretch my sample.
The biggest change was to the fine lines under my eyes and the little one the lies in-between my eyes. The true greatness of a product is shown when one wears makeup and it doesn’t crease in ones expression lines. I wasn’t too fond of the scent but the product works so I’ll work with it.
Though I’ve had the Goodal Waterest First Oil serum in my possession for a while I didn’t start using it until recently. I genuinely love it. It injects so much moisture to my skin. I like to combine it with my Garrison 9 Complex Essence, which also does the amazing things for my skin moisture wise. It plumps it so well, it’s like it’s filling all the little crevices in my cells.
The J.One Jelly Cream has been a long time favourite and I’ll need to repurchase soon as I’m almost finished my current jar. I feel like this product just sinks into my skin, the texture of it is more gel like so it’s light and absorbs into my skin instead of just sitting on top of it. This cream enhances the moisture of my skin working with the essence and serums I’ve added beneath it without feeling heavy and overpowering.
The NIOD Saccharine Mist is another product I’ll have to repurchase, tough I’m eyeballing the price real hard. On those really lazy days I’ll just spray this on my skin and call it done. I can’t do this everyday but once in a while is okay. I also find that it’s very soothing, so I’ve my skin is feeling itchy or irritated I’ll spray this over those areas and I’ve got instant relief.
I round out my routine with the Shesido sleeping mask and the Laniege lip sleeping mask, though I tend to use it throughout the day to moisturize my lips.
For me the shesido does a good job of rounding out the added layers of moisture that I’ve applied and locking it all in. It’s not a heavy product but is lightweight, this too also has a gel texture so it really helps with absorption.
Lets rewind and go back to the beginning of the the routine. First things first I’ve got to get all of makeup and the days grime off. For that I pull out my Super Facialist Vitamin C Cleansing Oil. I have quite a few cleansing oils but I enjoy the weight and feel of this oil. It’s not too heavy and doesn’t feel overwhelming when I use it. It spreads smoothly, with no tugging, so massaging my face to really get everything off is easy. I also like that it rinses cleanly, my skin doesn’t feel greasy or still covered in product.
I like to follow that up with my SU:M 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick. This has been a fave for the past 3 years or so. I can’t get enough of it. It has a rich creamy lather and it rinses cleanly, leaving no residue or tangible feeling on my skin. The main thing that I love though is that it even though it cleanses my skin thoroughly it doesn’t strip it and leave it feeling tight and uncomfortable. After I use this cleanser my skin feels soft and smooth, it’s supple, which is not something one usually says of a cleanser.
Last on the list is my Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%. It’s simple but works well with my exfoliation routine. Combined with my BHA and AHA, I’ve got a great team working to keep my skin smooth soft and clear of blemishes, though I still get the occasional pimple.
Congrats you’ve made it to the end, have you tried any of the products I mentioned in my faves list? Did they make it to your favourites list?
