I’m a hypocrite guys, I wrote the post about how I wasn’t going to buy anything during the Black Friday sales because it wasn’t financially responsible, then Sephora came out with their Daily Wow’s and my conviction crumbled liked dust. After seeing the list of what they were putting on sale each day, there were a few eyeshadow palettes that caught my eye, because I need more eyeshadow palettes right?
I’ll be honest and admit I impulse purchased a few things. The first of which was the Makeup Forever Step 1 Primer – the mattifying version for oily skin, this one was caused by the reflection of my shiny skin in my computer screen. It had barely reached 9 in the morning and I was looking oily already. I thought it prudent to pick up the primer. Oh I forgot to mention that the each Daily Wow was 50% off.
In keeping with the mattifying theme, I also picked up the Cover Fx High Performance Setting Spray. I wanted to grab the mattifying spray as well but that was out of stock, so no luck there. I’m hoping that this combined with powders will be enough to keep my oil under control.
The next thing I had my eye on was the Violet Voss – Like a Boss eyeshadow palette, again confession time, I hadn’t looked twice at this palette before, but when I saw that they planned to put it on sale, I started doing some research. I watched and read reviews, looked at swatches and just tried to figure out if this was something that I should pick up.
I wasn’t totally convinced then I saw these swatches on the blog Pre Dupre and boom. The way that Adulting and Girl Crush looked, they were simply beautiful. Rich, vibrant, uggghhh they just looked so good. So yup I forked out that $30.
Coverfx also had a sale and I was happy about that as well. I wanted to pick up their new Power Play concealer, it was just my luck that they had 25% off plus free shipping, which is actually better than I would have been able to get at Sephora even with the VIB discount. So I picked up the concealer at long last. I also picked up their Candle light glow powder and there Gold highlighter palette, both were reduced already plus the additional discount. These were a bit of an impulse purchase though I have had my eyes on the Candle Light powder for a while.
Lastly, I picked up the Urban Decay Velvetizer and All Nighter waterproof setting powder, again I’m hoping to combat my oily skin. Urban Decay had 25% off I believe, I was a little disappointed with myself because I forgot to use ebates.
Oh I also grabbed a few skin care items from Deciem, their Black Friday sale didn’t last too long but I was able to grab a few items like the Niod Low Viscosity cleanser, which I’m super excited about. I wanted to pick up a back up but it was sold out by the time I went back. It’s okay, there’s 240 ML in the bottle, I’m certain it will last me a good while.
So there you have it folks, I completely scrapped by no buy Black Friday plans, I didn’t go too overboard, though if I had seen more palettes that I’d had my eyes on go on sale then they too would belong to me.
Again I know that I might sound hypocritical saying it but I don’t want to encourage anyone to go heavily into debt to purchase makeup or clothing. At the end of the day these things can’t pay your bills or fill your stomach so purchase wisely. Thank you for attending my free lecture.
