New Makeup update

I’ve been on a makeup buying kick for the last couple of months. I’ve been purchasing items that are more on the mid to high end range which isn’t the norm for me, I tend to go for the affordable, price friendly brands. But these last few months I’ve been all about the Sephora purchases.

Nars Unfiltered 1 Blush Palette

I love this palette, from the first time I saw the photos I new that it was something I wanted to get my hands on. I have other Nar’s blushes so I know that the quality and pigmentation is great. So far I’ve been using it more to give me a soft subtle glow on my cheeks, but I love the fact with this palette I can get deep dramatic colour or a soft flush. It’s a very versatile palette. I know that some people were concerned that it would be too much colour for their complexion but I think if you use a light hand and stippling brushes then you can absolutely get great use out of this guy.

Tarte Shape Tape in Rich

I wasn’t too sure of this colour as I wasn’t able to find any swatches on line, but I think that it’s a great colour match for me. It leans a little cool to me which works well if I don’t go over board. It applies nicely, though you do have to be careful the applicator is a bit large, so it’s pretty easy to over do it you’re not careful. I tend to wear it layered with other concealers, as I don’t find it as full coverage as many people say it is, I still have a bit of darkness under my eyes when I use it, so to help eliminate the shadows I add a lighter concealer to help. On it’s own it does work well, there’s a small amount of transfer but I blame that on my oily skin. Honestly it's a nice concealer but I don't get or see the hype in this product.

MAC Pro Long Wear in NC50

I thought that this concealer was going to be great for me, I hoped that because it was on the cool side it wouldn’t have too much orange in it. Alas for me it did. So I use this one sparingly when I apply it, I use it almost like a colour corrector. This way I don’t look like an oompa luumpa. I do find that because it doesn’t crease too easy that it’s actually nice to use under other concealers, when I do my concealer this way I feel like I’ve got some built in protection against creasing. I’m still experimenting with the concealer combo’s.

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette

I love this little guy. I see why theres so much hype about it. I find that the matte colours apply well and blend well too, the shimmers are creamy and nice. It’s a neutral palette that gives you flexibility, you can do a very basic simple look or you can do a more glam look, this palette gives you options. When I purchased it, I was thinking that due to it’s size it would be a great travel palette, it doesn’t have any bright colours but I can bring some single shadows in a small palette.

Bobbi Brown To Glow Shimmer Brick Palette

I like the Bronze and Wild Rose highlight in this palette, Gold scares me a bit, it’s a little intense, but I’m still trying to work with it. I tend to use Bronze has my highlight and Wild Rose as more of a shimmery blush. I do use a very light hand with them, because as the name says they are pretty shimmering and it’s far too easy to go overboard with them.

MAC Paint Pot in Sand

I’ve got to say that I’m a little disappointed with this guy though it may not be the fault of the product. I’ve heard that paint pots don’t crease however I’ve found that each time I’ve worn this a base for my shadows it creased. Here’s why it might not be the products fault, I have very oily lids and so I think that the oil is breaking down the paint pot, I’ll have to try it with a primer underneath and see if that makes a difference.

How have you found your recent makeup purchases? Are they as good as you hoped or expected?
