Books I’m Looking Forward to Reading

Reality - that annoying time when you are not reading
— anon

Sometimes I read the excerpts of new books that are coming out and I get so excited for, I just can’t wait till it launches and becomes available. Sometimes the wait is short maybe a month or two and other times it could be a year or so, and then there are those few times where the promised book never materializes.

So these are the books that I’m anxiously and impatiently waiting for.

The Girl Who Knew Too Much by Jayne Ann Krantz (Amanda Quick)

This is part of her new ‘The Girl’ series, the excerpt is only a couple of pages but boy was it dramatic, we’ve got murder, new identities and tons of questions. That first chapter really sets you up for what appears to be wild ride. Mrs. Krentz book’s aren’t overly dramatic but they tend to incorporate a few different elements there’s usually some mystery, suspense and a bit of romance thrown in, so I think that it will be a great book. It comes out May of this year, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled for when it releases.

Power Game by Christine Feehan

I’ve been reading her books for years, this book is the 13th in her GhostWalker’s series, it features characters that have been genetically enhanced to essentially serve as super soldiers. This excerpt featured a female character who made was sent out on a mission with a limited time line. To ensure her return, her handlers give her a serum that causes immense pain and then eventually death, so she has to return to base  to get the antidote and stop the serum’s progression. In this first chapter you see her foil her handlers and make her escape. I was pleased with how the character is written so far and want to know more about her and what she ends up doing. This book is scheduled for January 2017 release, so by the time you read this post I may have already read this story.

Silver Silence by Nalini Singh

it’s got bear shifters, I’m already excited for it. But seriously if you’ve read any of Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changling Series that you may have come across the character Silver Merchant who works for Kaleb Krychek a very powerful Psy. You don’t really get to see much of silver has she’s a secondary character but now that the focus will be on her I’m quite excited. So far the all I know is that it’s scheduled for release this summer, sigh.

The UnYielding by Shelly Laurenston

She’s one of my favourite authors, and I love the Call of Crow’s series, so yup I’m looking forward to this book very much. I’ll be honest the excerpt didn’t sell it to me so much, but I’m certain when I get my hands on the book I’ll love it. Both Erin and Stieg have featured in the other books in the series but I don’t really feel like I know them that much. As far as I know there’s no release date yet for this one, hopefully it’s coming out this year.

Shadow Reaper by Christine Feehan

Yup another Christine Feehan book, she started the Shadow Rider’s series last year and I’ve been anticipating the release of the next book since I finished the first book. I found the story line interesting and liked that the female character wasn’t  flaky. This guy is also scheduled for a May release.

Born of Vengeance by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I mentioned this guy in my last book review, I’m happy to say that this book will also be released by the time you read this post. Hopefully I can get my hands on it. Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books tend to read like epic saga’s, it takes you through the highs and lows of the characters lives. They tend to live gruelling and hard lives but their victories and joys when they come are well worth it and appreciated so much more. I’m not quite prepared for the roller coaster of emotions that this book will take me on but I’m looking forward to it just a little bit. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Blazing Moon by Julie Wetzel

I’ve read all the other books in this series, and though this book is focusing on other characters, I would be lying if I said that I didn’t want to hear more about Victoria and Darien. Rupert and Elliot are nice yes, but honestly I want to read this book to see if there is any information about Victoria. I’m certain that overall the book will be great, Julie writes interesting books. I’ve read her Dragons of Eternity series and found them to be an enjoyable read. So I’ll see what antics Rupert, Elliot and these new characters come up with. It appears that this book is already available, I’ll work on getting my hands on a copy.

Moonshadow by Thea Harrison

So this book was released in December but I’ve just learned of it. It’s set in the world of the Elder races but isn’t apart of the other books that are in the Elder Races series. After reading the blurb it seems like it’s going to be intense, the blurb sets up the idea that there is going to be an epic battle between two forces, I won’t say between good and evil because I don’t know enough about each opponent. Thea tends to write strong female characters and I appreciate that, I do hope that this holds true for this story and for the female lead, Sophie, it seems like she’ll need that strength.

Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas

This book is a combination of two series that I enjoy from this author, the Wall Flower and the Ravenel series. I read Marrying Winterborne and really enjoyed it so I’m looking forward to this book. It is a historical romance with no paranormal activity at all, which makes it stand out from the rest of the books in the list as it’s the only one that is ‘normal’. This book is scheduled for release late February, I can’t wait.

What books are you looking forward to reading? Do you like any of the authors that I mentioned?
